With screen repair and full rescreens there are many options and pros and cons and information you should be aware of when making a choice that is best for you. If you don’t know what type of screen you have chances are you have the standard 18×14 fiberglass mesh screen. However most builders use a cheaper quality manufacturer of screen which generally lasts 3-5 years at best. At AF Screen Repair, we use the Phifer brand screen on all of our projects who are looking for standard 18×14 fiberglass screen and 20×20 No-seeum mesh screen. Phifer brand generally lasts 7-10 years per the manufacturer. There is also another brand of screen called Super Screen which comes in a standard 17×14 mesh and in a 17×20 No-seeum mesh, it also has a 10year manufacturers warranty that generally lasts 20+ years, however there are some draw backs such as too much UV protection if sun tanning, and the screen being so strong that it will pull the screws apart from the aluminum. The Super Screen is designed for the picture window openings specifically.
